Laura was born in Wisconsin and then moved with her family to South Dakota in 1879. The Ingalls spent many years living near the town of De Smet. Laura decided to write about her childhood when she got older. Her first children's book was Little House in the Big Woods, it was such a success that she was encouraged to write others.

When he was young, he showed incredible bravery in battle. Although he chose to become a medicine man, rather than a war chief. Sitting Bull was known for his resistance to U.S. government policies. He is best remembered for his participation in the battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876. In 1890 he was arrested by the tribal police, a fight followed during which Sitting Bull was shot and killed!

He is a Sioux track and field star, he is best known for earning a gold medal in the ten thousand meter race. Two other runners were supposed to take first and second place in the event, but he came up from behind them to win! In the process he set an Olympic speed record. Billy is in the American Indian Athletic Hall of Fame!

His real name is George Anderson. He began his professional baseball career in 1953 as an infielder. He played in the major league for only one year before moving to international league. He was chosen to manage the National League All Star Teams four times between 1971 and 1977. He was twice named manager of the year. He got introduced into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
